Implementation of all policies and procedures governing the credit and collection activities of assigned accounts and reporting requirements. Provide appropriate customer service to designated external and internal customers.

  • At the direction of the Manager, Corporate Credit, handle credit relationships for assigned customers (domestic and international)
    • Coordinate with appropriate staff and the Sales group the processing of credit applications on new customers including application review, credit investigation, and analysis of customer financial strength that requires making credit decisions with authority to approve credit limits of up to $1 million per customer
    • Maintain vigilance in monitoring corporate exposure under existing customer credit lines and ensure that credit limits continue to be appropriate
    • Work with and support credit staff both in the U.S. and overseas
    • Conduct ongoing communication with both internal and external customers on credit status and related credit functions
    • Manage Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) filings on all customers under consignment agreements, reviewing contracts related to sales and credit extension to international customers using various credit tools
  • Responsible for ensuring that customers understand applicable credit terms and make timely payment of all amounts due
    • This may include contacting customers to discuss past due balances, negotiating payment programs, customer visits with key financial staff, addressing orders on credit hold, responding to non-payments and reporting payment issues
    • Manage any customer bankruptcies of assigned accounts to ensure the protection of the Corporation's legal rights
    • This position requires daily communication with internal Sales and Customer Service staff to ensure flow of information when collection issues exist
  • At the direction of the Manager, Corporate Credit, prepare various credit and collection, bad debt, cash forecast and related performance information on a weekly and/or monthly basis
    • Work with the Manager, Corporate Credit on monthly credit committee meetings or other meetings as assigned
  • Oversee the approval and maintenance of Company vendor and contractor contracts in excess of $10 million
    • Work with Global Sourcing to gather required information, attend update meetings and create an approval package for management review and signature
  • Work with IT to develop and maintain the FSCM credit module on SAP
    • Coordinate credit staff SAP issues and work with IT to solve problems and foster enhancements to the system
  • Perform other duties as required


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or closely related field; and three (3) years of progressive experience in Commercial Credit and Collection function
  • Spanish language skills and experience with SAP

  • Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment
  • Position is in busy, non-smoking office located in downtown Phoenix, AZ
  • Location requires mobility in an office environment; each floor is accessible by elevator
  • Occasionally work will be performed in a mine, outdoor or manufacturing plant setting
  • Must be able to frequently sit, stand and walk
  • Must be able to frequently lift and carry up to ten (10) pounds
  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required
  • Freeport-McMoRan promotes a drug/alcohol-free work environment through the use of mandatory pre-employment drug testing and on-going random drug testing as allowed by applicable State laws
