Emergency Response Advisors

Due to the operational growth taking place at Cowal Gold Operation, we have an opportunity for an Emergency Response Advisor to support the training and developemnt of our Emergency Response team, while providing pre-hospital care as required.

  • 7:7 Roster
  • Develop, implement and train ERT teams in emergency medical protocols
  • Contribute to site-specific safety and health management system
  • Be lead by a manager who is supportive and is collaborative

Evolution Mining is a leading, growth-focused globally relevant gold company. We were created in late 2011 and operate six wholly owned mines across Australia and Ontario, Canada. In addition, we hold an economic interest in the Ernest Henry copper-gold mine in Queensland.

Our Cowal gold operation is an open pit site and is located 40km North East of West Wyalong in NSW. About the role
The newly created Emergency Response Advisor roles, offers an opportunity to provide Paramedical Pre-Hospital Care to employees, minimise risk in the workplace by promoting health and being actively involved with the implementation and training of the emergency response team. Key result areas in this role include:

  • Provide first response capability for injury management on site
  • Develop, implement and train ERT Captains in emergency medical protocols
  • Provide support in the development of rescue plans for newly developing UG operation
  • Assist in reviewing and improving current emergency response documentation
  • Support ERT personnel with emergency medical support when onsite
  • Deliver competency training for high risk tasks, such as confined space & working at heights
  • Work within and comply with the Evolution Mining and CGO site-specific safety and health management system.

About you
As an Emergency Response Advisor, you will ideally hold a Diploma in Paramedical Science or equivalent and be AHPRA registered. It is also important that you have/ can demonstrate:

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
  • NSW WorkCover accredited Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinator Training - desirable
  • Competent in a wide range of injury and illness response protocols and techniques
  • Be a self-motivated individual with effective communication skills
  • Possess an empathetic approach towards employees and patients.
  • Competent user of Microsoft suite

Company

 The operation comprises the Red Lake, Campbell and Cochenour mines over a strike length of 7km. The Cochenour mine is connected to Red Lake by a 5km haulage drift, with ore processed at the Campbell Mill.

Red Lake is accessible by major highways, with commercial air services to the mine from Thunder Bay and Winnipeg. Red Lake is supported by an experienced and highly-skilled workforce largely residing in adjacent towns of Red Lake and Balmertown and benefits from strong community partnerships with Lac Seul and Wabauskang First Nation Groups.

Mining at Red Lake is undertaken predominantly via long-hole stoping. Processing at the Campbell mill is via conventional crushing and grinding followed by gravity concentration to recover free-milling gold, with refractory gold recovered by floatation followed by pressure oxidation, neutralisation and CIL.
