About the role

We are looking for IS&T Site Based Project Supervisors to support the safe and efficient delivery of Capital and Sustaining IS&T projects for our customers. This role ensures efficient and visible collaboration between Rio Tinto site personnel and the APAC West IS&T Project Managers.

Reporting to the Superintendent Contract Management System, and working in challenging and exciting environment within our APAC West IS&T Team, you will:
  • Liaise with line management, project managers and customers site personnel to complete tasks within agreed project timeframes and in line with scopes of work
  • Ensure all Rio Tinto Health, Safety and Environmental Standards, Policies and Procedures are adhered to at all times
  • Co-ordinate and implement efficient and effective vendor management and provide direct supervision for site-based activities
  • Support and encourage a strong and positive safety culture by mentoring and coaching vendors to ensure projects are delivered safely, effectively and efficiently
  • Assist CMS Superintendent with management of HSEQ activities, including incident investigations, hazard rectification and regular reviews of IST APAC West policies, guidance notes, procedures and the implementation of the same
  • Work with vendors as part of contractor on-boarding in preparation for site mobilisations
  • Demonstrate field leadership and quickly establish working relationships with vendor groups

What you'll bring
  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Previous experience in a field based supervisory role managing teams
  • Previous experience working in a mining environment
  • Good time management and the willingness to collaborate and learn as part of a high functioning project focused team

It will also be beneficial if you have some of the following:
  • Radio, ICT or Electrical trade background
  • Experience as a Company Representative or Contractor Supervisor within Iron Ore
  • Previous experience working for Rio Tinto or Iron Ore operations
  • Previous experience or exposure as a Health and Safety professional
  • Previous experience supervising high risk activities within a mining environment
  • Currently hold or previously held Section 44 Appointed Persons Training.
