About the role

We are looking for Civils Supervisor to provide leadership to their team and actively promote safety awareness and safe work practices, with the aim of driving consistent performance and innovation in relation to safety, cost and production. The key success to this position will be the applicant's ability to manage multiple resources/requests, exercise sound decision-making, and deliver planned work to the committed timeframes. The Railway Network is a critical asset to the supply chain and the Civils Supervisor role has the opportunity to make a difference to the health of our Rail Civil Asset portfolio of Bridges, Culverts, Embankments, Drains and Cuttings.

Reporting to the Superintendent Civils & Earthworks at Rail Network Maintenance and working in a challenging and exciting environment within the Civils team, you will:
  • Be an inspiring role model and coach for positive behaviours, practices and processes, whilst providing leadership, development and support to your team
  • Ensure all Civils activities undertaken are compliant with all relevant statutory regulations and business standards and policies. This includes approval permits, heritage and the environment.
  • Drive continuous improvement within your contracting partners, and run stand-alone Civils work projects from scope to completion
  • Complete regular on the job interactions with the team to develop a safe and efficient work culture
  • Field scope civils programs of work across the Rail network
  • Participate in weekly planning meetings and perform basic supervisor work management tasks Time confirmations, work reschedule, notification and capacity management.

What you'll bring
  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • Leadership experience and confidence in leading, developing and coaching team members
  • Minimum 2 years experience with Civils Maintenance or Projects
  • Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and coordinate multiple work fronts
  • Computer literacy and proficiency in the suite of Microsoft packages such as Outlook, Excel and Word
  • A current Australian driver's license
  • Experience in SAP and Work Management

In the Pilbara region of Western Australia, Rio Tinto operates the world's largest integrated portfolio of iron ore assets with industry-leading performance and technology.

The Civils Supervisor position will be based at our Tom Price Rail Operations. This opportunity will be offered on a fly in, fly out basis, from Perth on a desirable 8/6 roster. The role will be required to attend our Karratha sites on an ad-hoc basis as required.
