About this role

What will you be responsible for?

Lead responsible for the development, implementation, continuous improvement and execution of Newmont's transportation and logistics strategy, policies and guidelines to drive shared goals and objectives across the entire Supply Chain and specifically for logistics activities. Lead all aspects of all regional modal and transportation planning activities, responsible to ensure all regulatory obligations are met, understood and in compliance with regional government and Newmont procedures and policies. Improves Newmont's overall logistics and transportation management capability through continuous improvement and development of the organization.

Your role will consist of

Here is a snapshot of what your day to day will look like:
Develops,implements,continuously improves and executes Newmont's Transportation & Logistics program strategy, policies & guidelines,including analysis of embedded freight costs,performing tradeoffs and defining and delivering value accretive T&L improvement initiatives and projects.
Accountable for the targets,metrics & key performance indicators for the region.
Describes current service levels and availability and pricing of various forms of transportation services.Considerations include software solutions, brokerage options, multi-modes(air/intermodal/truckload/rail),fuel,capacity, technology(electronic commerce/TMS),internet transportation exchanges,labor markets,understanding service/transit/cost differences,knowledge and understanding of third party logistics marketplace.
Builds mutually beneficial relationships between supply chain operations and service suppliers(from end-user "customer" through to the supplier).
Subject matter specialist in customs and regulations (including HAZMAT,ESR,& freight forwarding)associated with modal planning.
Applies knowledge of relevant logistical software available to improve efficiency and decision-making and methods of presenting transportation activities to vital parties.
Understanding of core interfaces and interdependencies between procurement,transportation & logistics,materials management,warehousing and related key performance metrics.
Builds regional risk profile for logistics & transportation and protects company assets by supervising service providers, filing claims when loss or damage occurs.
Identifies,installs and supervises performance within a transportation system.Considerations include cost/service tradeoffs,transit time, cycle time,line item availability and effect on order completeness,broader supply chain measures and claims.
Builds load plans, is able to create and implement process fundamentals of load planning,experience in implementing continuous improvement processes on an existing basis and can audit existing operation.Subject Matter Specialist in modal optimization and planning,able to build and implement process fundamentals of modal optimization.
Ensure that all logistics and transport providers are in compliance with Safety requirements promoting the company's safety culture,including training of assigned staff,clearly stating safety expectations,ensuring unsafe events are reviewed in a timely manner and 100% compliance with all Newmont and governmental regulations.
Develop skills and abilities of direct and indirect reports through ongoing performance measurement and feedback.Provide career guidance and act as a champion and mentor for all resources in the supply chain organization.

Knowledge:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Twelve (12) + years of experience across Warehousing, Inventory Management and Logistics, with at least one year or equivalent management experience within these functions

Experience:
  • See above. Evidence of leading operational teams and having direct reports is required
  • Mining experience preferred

Skills and Abilities:
  • Must have ability to effectively utilize Microsoft Word and Excel applications
  • Knowledge of digital platforms related to barcoding, track & trace and other related applications
  • Strong PC skills using MS office software
  • Knowledge of SAP or equivalent enterprise level software packages is vital.
  • Project Management Skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent influencing skills at all levels with an organization


Working conditions and location

Where you will be located!
  • Teamwork and interaction is encouraged across the Americas sites, with other regional supply chain organizations as well as across other service and operational areas of Newmont.
  • The position is located in the South America Regional office.
  • Position will be required to travel regularly to domestic and international sites.


The salary range offered for this role is $ 98,400 to 129,150 . The salary range is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience. The salary offer will not be based on a candidate's salary history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about salary history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.

This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company's performance and their own individual performance.
