The Opportunity

We are currently seeking Mineral Processing or Chemical Engineering Co-op Summer Student to join our Milling Technical Services Department in our Sudbury Operations.

The successful candidate engineering students will undertake the duties required to assist the department in delivering its project and process support activities.

Although previous experience in mining or an industrial setting is considered an asset, we also appreciate that diversity of thought comes from our differences – and that’s what makes us great!

Education & Experience:
  • Education:
    • Currently enrolled and in good standing in a Mining, Mineral Processing or Chemical Engineering program
  • Experience:
    • Experience in an industrial environment would be considered an asset

Knowledge & Skills
  • Knowledge and experience in Windows based applications and Microsoft Excel is essential
  • Organizational, interpersonal communication, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and a proven safety record are essential


Requirements & Accountabilities:
  • Follow Vale’s Safety Policies, Programs and Legislative Standards
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and work well with others in a team environment
  • Develop skills and abilities related to the provision of engineering to Ontario Operations
  • Ensure compliance to the applicable regulations, standards and guidelines
  • Utilize good engineering practices while minimizing costs
  • Provide technical support to enable safe and cost-effective operations
  • Monitor process parameters and communicate changes outside normal operational conditions to supervisor
  • Maintain a high level of professional conduct
  • Complete assigned projects safely and on time
  • Written and oral communication skills
  • Must be obsessed with safety and risk
  • Demonstrate open and transparent dialogue in all aspects of work
