Superintendent - Maintenance Planning

About the role

We are looking for a Superintendent Maintenance Planning to lead and develop a team that are accountable for planning and scheduling the maintenance activity across multiple site teams.

This is a great opportunity for a strong people leader who has the ability to coach, support and mentor the Yarwun team. You will require strong negotiation skills with the ability to effectively engage and influence a broad range of stakeholders.

Reporting to the Manager Maintenance and working in a challenging and exciting environment, you will be:
  • Leading a team of 13 planners and specialists to deliver the site planning function;
  • Responsible for governing the compliance to the sites work management process;
  • Coaching employees in the use of maintenance planning and work management tools and processes;
  • Leading the development of the sites zero based budgeting process;
  • Identifying and delivering projects that improve the sites performance across the 5 site priorities of safety, people, cash, growth and innovation.

What you'll bring
  • Engineering or equivalent trade qualified
  • Demonstrated experience managing maintenance budgets
  • Ability to engage stakeholders across multiple departments
  • Working knowledge of SAP
  • Previous experience in work management process

It would also be beneficial if you have
  • Experience in leading maintenance planning and scheduling teams is beneficial but not essential
  • Working knowledge of business improvement tools (such as 6 Sigma, process improvement and change management methodologies)

Where you'll be working

With production beginning in 2004 at our Yarwun alumina refinery, located approximately 10 kilometres north-west of Gladstone in Central Queensland, today the operation produces more than three million tonnes of alumina per year.

Around 700 people support the operation, with an additional 350 contractors on site each year as part of scheduled maintenance shutdown activities. Thanks to its 'Industry 4.0' focus, Yarwun is also a leader in trialling new technologies to improve operations on site, including 3D printing, robotics and drones in confined spaces, and is home to Rio Tinto's innovative Queensland Research and Development Centre (QRDC).

Along with Boyne Smelters Limited and Queensland Alumina Limited, our Yarwun Operation supports the local community in a wide range of initiatives through Here for Gladstone.
