Overview / Responsibilities

Wood currently has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Project Accountant to join our Mining & Minerals team in Oakville, ON. This role has overall responsibility for all aspects of project billing and general accounting. You will provide direct support to the business unit finance personnel and to the project managers. Key Responsibilities

  • Set up projects in both Accounting and Project Management systems (Oracle & Convero)
  • Ensure project set up generates appropriate results
  • Generate and review client invoices to ensure they are in accordance with the contract terms
  • Carry out monthly revenue recognition on projects
  • Identify and monitor project revenue/cost variances
  • Reconcile and analyze projects and related information
  • Monitor projects accounts receivable aging and Work -in-Progress (WIP) aging
  • Liaise between projects and accounting department to resolve questions or problems
  • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of project budgets
  • Prepare and review business unit reports in order to analyze variances and respond to inquiries from upper management
  • Undertake financial analysis on projects and overhead expenses
  • Assist monthly forecasting and annual budget preparation
  • Other Finance department projects as required


Skills / Qualifications

  • Accounting diploma with minimum 8 years of experience in financial and business accounting roles
  • Project experience in an engineering & project management environment is preferred
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and pro-active problem solver
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple concurrent tasks
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Enrolment in CPA program is a plus
  • Authorization to lawfully work in Canada without sponsorship from Wood is required
