Title: Locomotive Electrician

Work location: Perth based (Hazelmere)

Roster: 8 days on and 6 days off (Perth based) or 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off (Interstate)

In support of Fortescue's strong focus on green energy and our carbon neutrality targets, one of our key initiatives will be in our Green Fleet projects whereby we will develop and test a range of technologies to power our mining fleet

Based out our new Hazelmere R&D facility, we are presently looking for an experienced Locomotive fitter to join the Green Fleet Development team

Key accountabilities and requirements will include:

  • Flexible approach to work management, changing priorities as needed and quickly adapting to new requirements
  • Provide daily updates regarding work progress, risks, and priorities
  • Fluent in SAP, including time confirmation, raising notifications and being able to add regular information to work orders
  • Keen interest in support the development of new technology in locomotives
  • SD90, SD70 and C44-9W locomotives experience
  • Experience with all aspects of electrical systems in a locomotive
  • Interest in other electrical systems such as PLCs, since this work will also involve a tender car equipped with a fuel management systems

Qualifications and skills required:

  • Ability to work in a fast pace environment
  • Ability to work autonomously with constant enthusiasm, positive attitude, and discipline
  • Experience with SAP work management
  • Experience in coordinating contractors in the workshop (i.e. capacity to supervise contractors, organise priorities and coordinate activities to maximize productivity).
  • Ability to work quickly and operate in a high productivity environment
