This is an excellent career opportunity for a Nuclear Structural Engineer with 4 to 9 years of experience in industrial projects who enjoys working with people in a team environment with a positive and innovative attitude, strives for excellence, and understands project demands.

As a Structural Engineer you will be given an opportunity to work independently on various nuclear projects and other projects from our business units in Mining, Energy and Infrastructure industries. The Structural Engineer will participate in a wide range of projects covering reinforced concrete and structural steel analysis and design of various buildings, support structures and foundations. Activities also include structural steel and concrete finite element modeling, dynamic analysis of structures & foundations and seismic evaluations for conceptual, preliminary and detailed engineering phases of the multi-discipline projects.

Responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

  • Duties include gathering of relevant information, preparing specifications, structural analysis and design, seismic design and evaluation, as well as communication with all project team members and other stakeholders;
  • Structural analysis and design performed may include general steel and concrete design as well as specialized design using applicable nuclear codes and standards, and following clients’ engineering change control processes;
  • Preparation of relevant design change documents including design calculation, specifications, bill of materials and evaluation reports;
  • Participation and contribution to site walkdown, design reviews, disposition and incorporation of internal and external review comments;
  • Review of analysis and design prepared by junior engineers and designers;
  • Review of vendor documents and shop drawings.
  • Assisting the structural lead to resolve the construction issues related to the design deliverables.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Civil Engineering (or higher) degree from a recognized university
  • Registered Professional Engineer in Ontario;
  • Minimum 4 years of project engineering experience;
  • Previous experience on nuclear projects is desired;
  • Experience in structural analysis and design of nuclear power plant and similar industrial facilities;
  • Strong hand-on working knowledge and experience of nuclear power plant modification and upgrade design;
  • Strong knowledge and experience of seismic design and evaluation of nuclear power plant structures, systems, and components;
  • In-depth knowledge and experience of using applicable codes and standards for nuclear power plant engineering design;
  • Knowledge and experience with rigorous engineering change control processes and nuclear QA requirements as applied to nuclear power plant modification design;
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills demonstrated on multidiscipline project execution; experience in interfacing with and working collaboratively with other engineering disciplines and stakeholders;
  • Ability to function with minimal supervision on assignments;
  • Experience with general engineering analysis software, preferably Staad Pro and SAP2000;
  • Some experience and understanding of advanced engineering finite element analysis software such as Ansys.
  • Must be able to obtain Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) security clearance.
