Primary Purpose
Reporting to the Chief Geologist, the Senior Geologist will assist the mine operations with in-pit geological mapping and interpretation, grade control, improvements in coal recovery and mining efficiencies, drilling programs and to assist in the development and maintenance of the geological databases and geological modelling of the mine's coal deposits. The role will also involve field work, mapping, interpretation of geological structures and coal quality data, geophysical logs, bulk sampling, monthly coal reconciliations and other geological data.

Responsibilities
- The Senior Mine Geologist supports the mining, plant processing and planning departments in ensuring standards are being met for the provision of geological services.
- The role assists with maintaining a safe working environment.
- The Senior Mine Geologist ensures that industry ‘Best Practice' standards are followed for the evaluation of geological conditions and variable coal quality that could impact on coal resource and reserve models.
- The Senior Mine Geologist works with the short range mine planners to ensure that localised seam variations are understood through provision of updated seam solids in MineSight.
- The role provides intermediate level mentoring and geological support to the department geologists to assist with minimising potential geological risk.
- The role delivers a service to the mining and planning group by ensuring geological data collection complies with standards, the data is adequately gathered, structural conditions and coal quality trends are being identified and communicated, and assistance is provided for planning.
- The Senior Mine Geologist will generate new drilling targets within the mines and evaluate new areas with mining potential.
- The emphasis is on technical support.
- The role requires effective communication and teamwork.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education, Experience, and Qualifications
- Minimum Bachelor of Science degree in Geology or Earth Science.
- Eligible for registration with Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia (EGBC).
- Minimum 5 years relevant experience.
- Valid Driver's License.
