The purpose of the Mine Geologist is to implement, maintain and manage the daily mine geological activities at Mt Rawdon Gold Mine in QLD.

About the role

As Mine Geologist, you will focus on the implementation and improvement of geological processes. Key result areas in this role include:
  • Prepare and maintain grade control and geological models and design work
  • Work cohesively with key stakeholders, including Mining Engineers, Geology Manager and Processing Department personnel
  • Ensure the Geology team supports the mining department to optimise the extraction of the mineral resource
  • Undertake geological data collection and interpret data to determine grade control drill/blast programs and ensure quality is maintained at the highest possible level


About our Operation

Our Mt Rawdon gold operation is an open pit mine located 75km south west of Bundaberg in Queensland. Being a residential mine, our local employees go home every night, with many living in the communities of Mt Perry and Gin Gin. About you

As a Mine Geologist you will work as part of the Geology team at Mt rawdon Gold Mine. It is important that you have/ can demonstrate:
  • Tertiary qualification in Geology or Geosciences
  • 2-4 years experience in mine geology
  • Understanding of relevant sections of the Mines Safety and Inspection Act and Regulations
  • Demonstrate behaviours aligned with the Evolution Mining values.

Company

 The operation comprises the Red Lake, Campbell and Cochenour mines over a strike length of 7km. The Cochenour mine is connected to Red Lake by a 5km haulage drift, with ore processed at the Campbell Mill.

Red Lake is accessible by major highways, with commercial air services to the mine from Thunder Bay and Winnipeg. Red Lake is supported by an experienced and highly-skilled workforce largely residing in adjacent towns of Red Lake and Balmertown and benefits from strong community partnerships with Lac Seul and Wabauskang First Nation Groups.

Mining at Red Lake is undertaken predominantly via long-hole stoping. Processing at the Campbell mill is via conventional crushing and grinding followed by gravity concentration to recover free-milling gold, with refractory gold recovered by floatation followed by pressure oxidation, neutralisation and CIL.
