Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is seeking a Construction Electrical Engineer / Coordinator for our Mining & Minerals project site located near Gogama, Ontario. The position will be a site based position working out at the Cote Project site. Reporting to the Area Construction Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and effective completion of various electrical scopes on site.

Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible to manage the installation of electrical services on site.
  • Management of site Lock-out/Tag-Out program as it relates to energy isolation on electrical systems.
  • Review electrical design and respond to RFI's
  • Interface with Ontario Electrical Inspectors. Production and management of reports and installation certification.
  • Field management of multiple contractors on site
  • This will include monitoring of contractor performance ensuring compliance with all project objectives - HSSE, Cost, Schedule, and Quality
  • Production of daily reports against progress of their portion of the overall project schedule.
  • Managing multiple contractors in order to enable on time completion of their scopes of work
  • Develop team relationships to ensure smooth interaction between parties responsible for work identification, planning & scheduling, resource provision, and execution of work
  • Control nonconforming products, services and their subsequent repair, and re-work until corrective actions have been implemented
  • Ensure compliance with established safety and environmental programs to execute services with zero harm to people, environment, and plant
  • Monitor, participate and lead safety performance of contractors. Implement steps to rectify any trends of deficiencies in performance of the program
  • Participate and lead overall safety and environmental programs to drive continuous improvement
  • Ensure safety reporting, incidents, and near misses are reported both in a timely and accurate manner in accordance with the standard procedure
  • Maintain a thorough and comprehensive record of actions and events. Document and/or obtain necessary detail to provide a clear understanding of particular occurrences and conditions
  • All other duties as assigned


Skills / Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 10 - 15 years experience in the construction industry (preferably mining experience)
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications
  • Previous experience in a electrical engineering environment is an asset
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Authorization to lawfully work in Canada without sponsorship from Wood is required
