About the role

We are looking for an experienced professional to provide insightful and timely commercial advice and analytical support to facilitate well-informed decisions and create value to Rio Tinto Iron Ore. We are open to considering a range of experience - you might have a technical background with a strong understanding of the resources industry and a keen interest and some exposure to the commercial side of the business, or you may be an experienced Business Analyst looking to build your exposure to resources.

Reporting to the Manager Business Analysis, you will be:
  • Assessing, valuing and influencing major investment proposals, including preparing proposals for the Investment Committee and Board.
  • Providing commercial and analytical support to operations leadership teams.
  • Engaging with the business to assess the financial viability of projects and programmes through appropriate evaluation using financial modelling to identify key drivers for optimising project value.
  • Reviewing and providing recommendations on capital expenditure applications, contracts, major operating cost decisions and post investment reviews.
  • Fostering a culture of zero harm and continuous improvement.

What you'll bring

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
  • Undergraduate degree in a technical, commercial and / or science field.
  • Proven financial evaluation and discounted cash flow modelling experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with an ability to engage with and influence stakeholders.
  • Excellent in written and oral communication, with an ability to structure and synthetize key messages.

It will also be beneficial if you have:
  • An MBA or other post-graduate degree
  • Resource sector experience
