About The Role
WorkPac are currently seeking a Signal Electrician to join the team at Rio Tinto's 7 Mile site in Karratha. The role will involve maintaining the Railways Division Train Control Signalling System and related communications, supporting the efficient operation of the railway and monitoring of its assets in accordance with safety and regulatory requirements. The role is available to Karratha residents or FIFO from Perth on an 8/6 roster.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Undertake planned maintenance and inspections of train control signalling and associated communications to provide safe and reliable operation of the railway.
  • Identify faults and undesirable conditions/hazards, prioritise and implement short and long term solutions.
  • Attend and rectify faults to minimise production delays.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of improvement projects and propose optimisation therein, including the proactive use of diagnostic tools to support predictive maintenance activities.
  • Manage the engagement and performance of external contractor and suppliers to align with quality standards.
  • Consistently demonstrate a high standard of work, adhering to safety, knowledge and related experience.
  • Provide ongoing communication with key stakeholders including Train Control, Rail operations, RSM and Engineering Support regarding the signalling system performance.
Skills & Experience
  • Cert IV in Electrical Rail Signalling highly regarded
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role, specifically in a Mining environment.
  • Previous experience in maintenance planning, renewals management planning and execution.
  • Experience with electrical and mechanical rail signalling equipment.
  • Ability to identify inefficiencies and propose and implement improvements.
  • Knowledge of Microlok, Microtrax and GCP will be advantageous.
  • Unrestricted A Grade Electrical Licence.
  • WA 'C' Class Drivers Licence.
