Our people division is growing, and we are looking for a Senior Environmental Engineer at our Carlin operations. The successful candidate will ensure that all legal and other compliance obligations of the mine are achieved with regards to air quality programs and permits.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure legal and compliance/permitting obligations associated with the Title V Air Permit, Mercury Operating Permit, Federal MACT regulations are achieved
  • Coordinate maintenance of existing air compliance systems and the development of new systems
  • Work directly with regulatory agency personnel, site managers, corporate resources, legal counsel and other stakeholders
  • Lead business partners as needed to complete permit applications and work with agency personnel to acquire approval of permit modifications
  • Manage the stack testing program from schedule coordination with the stack testing company, through review and submittal of the report to appropriate regulatory agencies
  • Act in a customer service role to ensure Operations personnel understand air permit obligations and participate in air permitting decisions
  • Provide or assist with training NGM employees, contractors and others
  • Coordinate inspections of mine operations to ensure permit compliance and accompany regulatory inspectors on periodic inspections
  • Completing the State Fire Marshal (EPCRA Tier II) Report
  • Complete specific assignments outside the field of sampling and monitoring as defined by the Environmental Manager
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 14001:2015 standards
  • Lead junior staff members
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Mining Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science or related field required
  • Seven (7) to ten (10) years of direct experience in environmental compliance with a minimum of (3) years in a mining environment, including regulatory agency interactions required
  • Extensive knowledge of Title V air permitting regulations required
  • Previous supervisory experience required
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously required
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation and interpersonal skills required
  • Proven ability to perform crucial responsibilities of the position required
  • Experience in other environmental media (water, waste management, lands etc.) preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of permitting processes relative to NDEP and BLM preferred
  • Familiarity with compliance systems and ISO 14001:2015 preferred

About Nevada Gold Mines

Nevada Gold Mines is a joint venture between Barrick Gold Corporation (61.5%) and Newmont Goldcorp Corporation (38.5%), combining their significant assets across Nevada to create the single largest gold-producing complex in the world and realize the full potential of these mines through synergies and best-in-class operational improvements.

The massive mining operation comprises 8 mines along with their associated infrastructure and processing facilities that produced an estimated 4 million ounces of gold in 2018.
