Summary

Reporting to the Eva Copper Project Manager, the Safety Manager is responsible for developing and implementing a strong safety culture and leading safety programs across the Eva Copper Project.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of CMMC health and safety policies and procedures across the Eva Copper Project.
  • In partnership with the Project team, promote and embed a strong health and safety culture across the Project.
  • Design and deliver safety training programs, toolbox talks, and health and safety informational awareness sessions.
  • Identify requirements and coordinate site and job specific training.
  • Perform inspections/workplace audits, investigate incidents, and ensure corrective actions are implemented and tracked to completion.
  • Maintain Eva Copper safety statistics and records (including training, incidents and inspections).
  • Regularly monitor the safety compliance of all employees and contractors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and required.

Education & Experience

  • Post-secondary qualifications in health and safety.
  • Minimum of 8 – 10 years’ experience in health and safety within the mining industry.
  • Formal training in recognized incident investigation processes.
  • Solid understanding of Queensland Mining and Quarrying Safety and Health Regulations.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to present ideas clearly.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently as well as across different levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment managing multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Good liaison skills to engage with safety regulators and agencies.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills
  • Ability to identify key technical and business issues and develop innovative solutions.
  • High degree of business acumen and ability to think strategically.
  • Proficient computer skills, with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Power Point, Word, Excel) and ability to learn new software.
