THE ROLE           

The Technical Services Manager will lead the development of short-medium-long range underground mine planning, budgeting, cost control, surveying, contracts administration, underground production and construction, geology, hydrology, ore control, and the reconciliation processes.

RESPONSIBILITIES          

  • Direct technical services to ensure that underground mine plans are complete and timely.
  • Direct long-range mine planning to support forecasting, budgeting and life of mine plans.
  • Management of mine optimizations and associated reporting requirements.
  • Direct survey, ventilation, infrastructure and projects as managed by the department.
  • Lead change management throughout the operation.
  • Implementation of planning software and the development of the technical department.
  • Administration of mining contracts focusing on safe performance, cost control, data management and process improvement.
  • Promote orebody definition through infill & expansion diamond drilling and block model &reserve evaluation.
  • Develop and manage the budget associated with the mine.
  • Training and coaching of expats and local staff.
  • Manage the daily, weekly and monthly reporting process for the mine.
  • Backup the Mine Superintendent and Mine Manager in the operations management as necessary.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves work problems and recommends measures to improve productivity and quality of work
  • Establishes methods to meet work schedules and confers with managerial and technical personnel, other departments, and contractors to resolve problems and coordinate activities
  • Assist in all accidents, incidents and near miss investigation involving his or her crew, and takes corrective actions for the immediate, long term and permanent remediation.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE             

  • Bachelor´s degree in Mining Engineering or other related disciplines.
  • 15 years of experience required in underground hard rock mining (technical and production), including time as a Superintendent/Manager level.
  • Leadership of technical teams of 35+ employees.
  • Proficient in underground mine planning and design software.
  • Experience in greenfield/brownfield project construction and start-ups.
  • Experience in underground mechanized mining projects (long- hole stope, drift and fill operations with modern equipment) utilizing paste backfill systems.
