Supporting the effective technical operation of MCM processing plant
  • Monitoring the materials usage especially steel balls and reagents
  • Continuously liaise with the Chief Metallurgist on plant operations, technical projects and improvements from a technical perspective
  • Ensure that safety standards are adhered to and incidents are reported
  • Liaise with Process Supervisors for technical support requirements
  • Liaise with Engineering (maintenance) for mill inspections and relining requirements
  • Monitor and advise on the settings of operational parameters to optimise performance (Expert system operational parameters, reagents targets and set points, steel addition, etc.)
  • Audit the process regularly to ensure conformance (spot checks, calibrations, etc.)
  • Assist during breakdowns or emergencies or poor plant performances (stay on longer if required/necessary)
  • Identify and communicate plant defects to the Chief Metallurgist
  • Provide support to outside technical "consultants", e.g. OSA, SGS, etc.

Identify new methods to improve the concentrators technical process
  • Keep up to date with modern developments (ensure the ones in place are utilized effectively)
  • Initiate and conduct personal and team technical projects with the Chief Metallurgist and Laboratory Technicians
  • Monitor trends in the plant and compare with best practices if negative variations are found identify and implement solutions
  • Liase with engineering to identify engineering opportunities for improvement

Qualifications & Experience Required:
  • Degree in Metallurgy
  • min of 10 years in similar role, incluing 4-5 years sulphide copper flotation
  • Previously African/remote site experience will be an advantage
  • French will be advantageous
