Asset Reliability Superintendent

Chifeng Gold’s Lane Xang Minerals Limited (LXML) operates the Sepon Gold and Copper Operation, located in Vilabouly District, Savannakhet Province, Lao PDR. Since operations commenced in 2003, LXML Sepon has produced over one million tonnes of copper cathode and over 1.2 million ounces of gold doré. In 2020, Sepon produced over 39,730 tonnes of copper and 64,809 ounces of gold doré. Sepon is projected to produce over 250,000 ounces of gold doré in 2021.

LXML is now positioning itself for future growth. With the transition from a copper-focused operation to a gold-focused operation completed in 2020 and with a number of other feasibility studies, a ramp up in exploration and with merging and acquisition activity underway, the future for LXML and the Sepon operation is unlimited in potential and opportunity.

In support of this growth, we are looking for Asset Reliability Superintendent (Milling, Crushing, Flotation, Oxygen Plant and POX) to join our team to deliver on our growth plans, and be a part of this exciting future.

This job will champion the processes of asset integrity, equipment reliability in the LXML Process Plant with major focus on Oxygen plant and Pressure Oxidation (POX) circuits. In addition to control risks, ensure all statutory critical controls and critical verifications are completed and documented. Monitor repair quality during maintenance execution and promote continual refinement of long-term asset management strategies.

Key responsibilities include:

• Conduct Process Plant, Oxygen Plant and POX circuit maintenance strategy reviews and develop maintenance strategies to deliver reliability improvements and operating cost reductions, utilising Criticality Hierarchy, RCM analyses, FMEA and Reliability Block Diagrams.
• Assist in reviewing, developing and refining, reliability/maintainability focused maintenance documentation for each asset including the technical/procedural content of SOP’s and Work Instructions, component/system rebuild scopes & procedures, detailed Machine Specification documents, Factory Acceptance Test documents and installation & commissioning documents.
• Review stores holdings against historic failure and downtime data and reliability models to allow spares criticality to drive our warehouse inventory. Liaise with purchasing to update stores holdings to reflect the revised criticality.
• Develop and execute optimised, Process Plant, Oxygen Plant and POX circuit equipment specific condition monitoring strategies. Specify CM acceptance criteria and alarm levels.
• Conduct interrogation and high-level analysis/interpretation of machine condition data, and initiate appropriate remedial action and failure analysis.
• Maintain condition monitoring records and track equipment condition and corrective actions.
• Implement a Loss Elimination process to collate process and equipment related losses from each operational area in an appropriate centralised data management system. Continuously review and manage accuracy of data collection to ensure data quality and integrity.
• Conduct analysis of downtime data (including major causes of downtime) to identify significant or repeat failures for subsequent defect elimination analysis.
• Facilitate failure analysis at an appropriate level as defined by the production or Engineering and Maintenance Manager.
• Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) or 5 Whys analysis for high business impact or reoccurring equipment failures (as identified by Processing or Engineering and Maintenance Manager).
• Conduct education and training sessions with site personnel in RCA and 5 Whys processes and tools.
• Maintain RCA Register to document RCA or 5 Whys analysis outcomes and facilitate the resolution and closure of actions with action owner and report overdue actions to Maintenance Manager as required.
• Conduct periodic audits on corrective actions to ensure solutions which have been identified through the failure analysis process are implemented and are “fit for-purpose”.
• Where requested, assist in implementing corrective actions which have been identified through the failure analysis process. This may require monitoring in the field or via data interrogation to ensure actions are completed and documenting the result.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

• Bachelor of Engineering is essential.
• Minimum 10 years hands on working experience at mineral Processing Plants in reliability, condition monitoring, POX and Oxygen Plants maintenance roles.
• Minimum 5 years in a front-line reliability maintenance supervision role
• Post graduate reliability qualifications, CMRP certification are desirable.
• Oxygen or pressure oxidation using oxygen is mandatory.
• Problem solving & failure investigation.
• Data interrogation and analysis.
• Root Cause Analysis facilitation expertise.
• Cost analysis & business justification.
• Microsoft Office, Excel, Power Point etc.
• Pronto CMMS Maintenance Module.

This expatriate assignment is a 2 year contract residentially based in the Lao capital city of Vientiane on a 5/2 4/3 roster to site.  Alternatively, a longer FIFO roster from your home country can be agreed for the right candidate.
