The Role

Reporting to the Superintendent Mine Geology you will be responsible for providing high quality geological support to the Boddington Gold Operationto maximise the safe, profitable extraction of resources. You will work within the Geology Team to contribute to continuous improvement of safe operating procedures systems and processes, and training and development of Mine Geologists.

Key Accountabilities

• Act in a manner which follows Newmont's values and positively impacts Boddington's safety culture.
• Continuously evaluate and improve practices and procedures to ensure ore control model provides the best possible estimate for contained metal.
• Manage and continually improve processes and procedures for ore blocking and ore mark out.
• Work with the Engineering team to ensure optimal blasting practicesto minimise dilution, ore movement and ore loss.
• Developinitiatives to help minimise ore loss and dilution through mining practices.
• Review mine plans, designs and schedules in conjunction with Engineering.
• Design and executegeology RC and diamond core drilling programs.
• Complete geological pit mapping.
• Complete geology interpretations and 3D models as required.
• Monitor monthly QAQC data and assist the Superintendent Mine Geology in making changes to correct any bias or sampling error.
• Conduct geological model reconciliations and associated reporting as required.
• Identify and complete mine geology projects to aid in improving the mine geology systems and increase the geological understanding of the Boddington deposit.
• Provide guidance and direction for Mine Geologists to achieve monthly and annual production targets.

Skills & Experience

• Tertiary Qualification in Geology.
• 5+ years' experience in mine geology.
• Previous geology experience in a similar geological setting, preferably within a large open pit gold mining operation.
• Experience supervising geology drilling programs including design, logging and data analysis.
• Understanding of alteration, mineralogy and structural geology related to gold/copper mineralization.
• Exposure to resource estimation.
• Advanced communication and computer literacy.
• Experience with mine planning software such as Vulcan or Leap Frog.
