Our people division is growing, and we are looking for an Assessor to join the Safety, Health and Training team at our Carlin operation. The successful candidate will collaboratively engage with several key internal and external stakeholders to support Nevada Gold Mines' needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaboratively engage with several key stakeholders to reach objectives.
  • Work to accomplish job tasks with minimal supervision while receiving a moderate level of mentorship and direction.
  • Manage and lead the implementation of a Competency Based Training system and the continuous improvement thereafter.
  • Display understanding of organizational dynamics, ability to effectively facilitate training and assessments.
  • Lead and verify training standardization both within divisions and across Carlin.
  • Conduct training assessments to verify competency.
  • Assist with training repository standardization and maintenance thereafter.
  • Maintain regulatory compliance and assist in developing solutions to regulatory challenges.
  • Act as a resource and mentor for site trainers and able to lead the training team in place of the manager for short periods.
  • Collaborate with organizational subject matter experts to tackle a range of complex problems and develop feasible and sustainable solutions.
  • Present data and ideas to management in formal and non-formal settings.
  • Use effective approaches for choosing a course of action or developing appropriate solutions.
  • Take action that is consistent with available facts, constraints, and probable consequences.
  • Strives for continuous improvement, alignment, and management of organizational systems.
  • Continuously seek out learning opportunities to develop and strengthen skill sets.
  • Continuously expand knowledge and understanding of S&H structure, such as contractor controls, divisional specialists, Emergency Response, etc.
Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and skills equivalent to that gained through a minimum of four (4) years' clerical/secretarial experience preferred
  • Demonstrative ability to analyze and confidently present data in a manner to promote ideas and opportunities to lead improvement preferred
  • Knowledge and experience in either operation or maintenance roles in mining, construction or heavy equipment industry required
  • Advanced knowledge and proficiency of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio) required
  • Experience in training, scheduling, and presentation required
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills required
  • Effective time management to organize and prioritize a heavy workload in a fast-paced demanding environment required
  • Detailed knowledge of MSHA, State, and ATF regulations required
  • Willingness to cross-train in other functions within Safety and Health Team required
  • Proven ability to perform all essential functions of this role required

About Nevada Gold Mines

Nevada Gold Mines is a joint venture between Barrick Gold Corporation (61.5%) and Newmont Goldcorp Corporation (38.5%), combining their significant assets across Nevada to create the single largest gold-producing complex in the world and realize the full potential of these mines through synergies and best-in-class operational improvements.

The massive mining operation comprises 8 mines along with their associated infrastructure and processing facilities that produced an estimated 4 million ounces of gold in 2018. Three of these assets are Tier One gold mines: Barrick's Cortez; the combination of Barrick's Goldstrike and Newmont Goldcorp's Carlin; and the combination of Barrick's Turquoise Ridge and Newmont Goldcorp's Twin Creeks.
