The Role

We are seeking a Maintenance Services Superintendent to work at the Lihir Gold Limited operation in Papua New Guinea on a fly in fly out arrangement. Reporting into Manager - Fixed Plant Maintenance this role will require a high level of proficiency and experience across Maintenance. You will be in charge across various crews across Maintenance Services that include, Cranes (overhead crane and compressor maintenance crews), Workshop Rebuilds, Fabrication and General Services. You will oversee just over 300 personnel within the Maintenance Services team inclusive of contractors. You will be responsible to lead, monitor and control cost management, contractor and work management safely, in order to optimise production at the most cost-effective level. Applicants that apply will hold considerable Superintendent level experience across Maintenance Services Management within these areas.

You will exhibit

Strong Health, Safety and Environmental leadership capability within the context of this role.
Strong technical understanding and knowledge of Maintenance Services tasks and systems and over Fixed Pant Asset Management experience in Mining.
Management of cost within Maintenance Services inclusive of shutdown work particularly in the area of crane operations.
Large-scale shutdown experience within Fixed Plant Processing plant as well.
Strong stakeholder management capability with excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to be the lead conduit within Maintenance Services ensuring other fixed plant department leads are on the same page.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Trade qualification in Mechanical or Electrical or a tertiary qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
Trade's certificate essential accreditation from the Institute of Engineers PNG Inc. to be completed as part of work permit process.
Certificate in Workplace Assessment and Training or similar, highly desirable.
Supervisor/Leadership training (essential)
10+ years relevant work experience essential particularly at a Superintendent or above level in Maintenance Services including large-scale asset maintenance superintendent fixed plant experience.
Skilled in the use of the CMMS/EAM and SAP software and proficiency in the use of MS Office Suite.
Technically confident and experienced in leading Maintenance Services requirements at a Superintendent level ideally within a gold large scale fixed plant area.
Exposure to working on remote mine sites, ideally within developing countries where multi-national workforces are utilised (desirable but not essential).
Ability to provide governance and monitor progress to ensure compliance and best-practice of Maintenance Services are followed safely and effectively.
Experience and commitment to developing and mentoring national colleagues by providing feedback, coaching, and formal training where required.
Excellent report writing, presentation and communication capability.
Works in accordance with PNG Mine Safety Act, Newcrest Safety System, Safety Policies and Procedures and Newcrest Environment policies and all departmental operating procedures.
Proven ability to foster strong, professional relationships to identify problems, resolve conflicts and implement solutions.
Excellent attention to detail and time management skills, ensuring the capability to meet deadlines and KPIs.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
High level of self-motivation, with the ability to work under pressure and autonomously.

Mobilisation Requirements

This is a fly in fly out role to Lihir in Papua New Guinea.
Ability to provide valid police clearance within the last six months.
Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment medical assessment.
