Role Details
Gold Fields Australia is currently seeking an Advisor: Environment to join their Sustainable Development Department at St Ives Gold Mine.
Reporting to the Superintendent: Environmental, you will be responsible for the contribution of environmental activities within the operation which meet current and anticipated demands in accordance with Gold Fields EHS standards whilst maintaining strict compliance with relevant legislative and statutory requirements to ensure sustainable mining operations.
This role is offered as a residential role on a 5 days on 2 days, 4 days on 3 days off roster and would require the incumbent to be residential within the goldfields.

Key prioritised responsibilities include:
- Always act in a manner that seeks to enhance the safety culture and performance of GFA and ensures that the Vital Behaviours are adhered to at all times.
- Partner with key stakeholders to deliver primary and secondary approvals and provide project and operations approvals advice and support, including document preparation.
- Manage subcontractors and their outputs, including logistics, scheduling and review of reports.
- Manage and coordinate site based information resources including compilation and management of GIS data.
- Undertake stakeholder engagement including meetings with regulators and community .
- Provide support and expertise to the site and contribute to the provision of coordinated, expert and proactive environmental management.
- Ensure effective controls are in place and managed and are compliant with legislative and corporate obligations.
- Oversee the utilisation of assets to maximise return, including developing & reviewing the application of new procedures, processes, methodologies and technologies where appropriate.
- Build strategic working alliances, promoting the capability of the department and its purpose in the bigger picture of mining so as to engender confidence and compliance with environmental policies.
- Demonstrate commitment to integrating good environmental management into everyday practices, influencing all site personnel to do the same.
- Coordinate and undertake site monitoring programs, data collection and analysis, and reporting to ensure compliance with obligations, commitments and company requirements.
- Ensure the company has the capacity to achieve Zero Harm by actively identifying and reporting hazards using the sites hazard reporting system
- Assist in the continuous improvement and maintenance of the site's ISO14001 certified EHS Management System.
Key factors to your success include:
- Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science
- Intermediate level of competency in Microsoft Office and ArcGIS applications
- Minimum 2 years' experience in an environmental function within the mining sector.
- Ability to communicate well on all levels within the business
- Possess a Valid WA Driver's License manual
