Located in the Great Sandy Desert in Western Australia, Telfer is a fly in fly out operation from Perth which recognizes the importance of work-life balance. Our comfortable, well furnished rooms include Foxtel, and our site offers quality food with healthy options, medical care, sports and recreation activities. Families are welcomed several times a year to open days to support our community feel at Telfer.



Who we are looking for

We are seeking an agile and driven Weekly Planner / Scheduler to assist with the improvement of maintenance execution safety, productivity & work quality across Mill Maintenance and Utilities at Telfer.

Joining our close-knit Planning & Shutdown department and reporting to the Planning Supervisor, this role will see you anticipate & eliminate potential delays through efficient planning and coordination of labour, parts, equipment access and work pack development.

Other key deliverables of the role include:
  • Assist in achieving Maintenance Department targets by delivering maintenance schedules that minimise costs and equipment downtime, maximise labour and add value
  • Plan and schedule Major Maintenance & Project Tasks with the aid of an Approved Engineering Scope of Works; monitor the ongoing works maintenance program
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis of data, identify areas for improvement and implement changes
  • Perform in-field verifications of maintenance activities, identify areas for improvement and implement changes
  • Ensure compliance with Newcrest Occupational Health, Safety, Environmental Policies & Procedures and encourage others


To succeed in this role, you will be an exceptional team-player with excellent work-ethics and a passion for continuous improvement. You will have the ability to promote high quality working relationships and drive trust within a team-based culture. Your ability to communicate effectively and collaborate at all levels in the organisation will work towards achievement of desired outcomes.

In addition, you will also ideally have:
  • Proven experience in a similar role within Fixed Plant and Utilities in Mining
  • Experience in both planning and scheduling will be highly regarded
  • Demonstrated ability in the use of the full MS Office suite and SAP
  • Experience with the Prometheus Graphical Scheduling Tool would be highly advantageous
  • Sound organisation and presentation skills
  • Mechanical Trade or Engineering qualification
  • Coaching and mentoring experience would be beneficial



Please note: This is a permanent role that will work on a FIFO (8/6), flying out of Perth. For the right candidate, there will also be an opportunity to work in this role as a hybrid role, getting to work from Perth every alternate swing.
