Position summary
Downer Mining is currently seeking a Health, Safety & Training Coordinator to join the team at our Meandu site which is a residential mine located 25 kilometres south-east of Kingaroy. This is a residential position; therefore, no camp or accommodation is provided.

This will provide support and services associated with Health and Safety matters to the Health, Safety and Training Superintendent and the Project Team.

ABOUT THE ROLE:
  • Undertake specific projects as defined by the HS&T Superintendent.
  • Participate in the continual improvement of Operational Training and Assessment processes.
  • Ensure all statutory requirements are fulfilled to ensure compliance to the Downer Mining SHMS.
  • To conduct internal SHMS audits when required.
  • Ensure that contractual requirements regarding H&S are met and integrated into the site PMP.
  • Make recommendations and implement improvements to safety and security procedures.
  • Ensure that all personnel and subcontractor personnel are adequately instructed concerning safety procedures and systems and that these are complied with.
  • Coach employees in order to correct unsafe work habits.
  • Pro-actively challenge others about safety or security violations.
  • Conduct safety investigations, prepare reports and recommendations, and implement corrective and preventative actions.
  • Assist in injury Management - Coordinating a CMW return to work after an injury.
  • Actively participate in risk management projects.
  • Coordinate document reviews as required.
  • Coordinate management of change as required.
  • Identify safety issues and problems ensuring corrective action is taken and monitored.
  • Ensure compliance with the relevant statutory requirements and legislation.
  • Conduct safety/Critical control observations and hazard reports as per the contract.
  • Coordinate daily hazards and advise of appropriate action and responsibility.
  • Coordinate toolbox talk (TBT) schedules/develop presentations and actively participate/ present TBT where require.

ABOUT YOU:

The successful candidate will possess the following:
  • 2+ years in a generalist safety field.
  • Certificate IV in Workplace Training - Preferred.
  • Workplace Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinator - Essential.
  • Senior First Aid.
  • Preferably an undergraduate qualification (certificate/diploma level) in safety, training or related area.
  • Current light vehicle/heavy vehicle (as required) driver's licence - essential.
