Position Description:

The Senior or Intermediate 'Geologist, Geological Modelling' will focus on understanding the overall geological environment of the mine, with particular focus on the controls on mineralization. The role will involve coordinating geological interpretation and modelling work carried out by groups of geologists involved in Exploration, Mineral Resource Growth, Grade Control Drilling, Mineral Resource Estimation, UG grade control, and the Hemlo Ground Control team.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordination between various groups within the Mineral Resource Management (MRM) and Exploration teams to ensure consistency and coordination with regard to legends, data capture and naming, methodology, interpretation.
  • Creation and/or maintenance of various geologic model to assist with resource / reserve drilling, ore interpretation and metallurgical studies
  • Assist in the creation and/or presentation of geologic information throughout Hemlo and Barrick
  • Assist in planning and monitoring the results of Growth drilling programs
  • Identify geologic opportunities and work collaboratively with the MRM, exploration, and miner operations to realize the full potential of the Hemlo deposit.
  • Other duties as assigned from time to time by the Mineral Resource Manager including, but not limited to, site and corporate reporting, and safety and training initiatives
Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience underground environment
  • Bachelor of Science in Geology
  • Registered, or eligible to register, as a Professional Geoscientist with PGO
  • Strong computer skills and proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Access)
  • Experience with 3D modeling software, geological database software, mapping software, and planning software. Vulcan / Leapfrog, AcQuire, ArcGIS, AutoCAD, and Deswik experience would be highly regarded
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to walk significant grades underground and lift 50 lbs.
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Strong communication, computing, planning, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment with engineering and production personnel
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Organized, motivated self-starter with high standards expected of themselves and others
  • Ability to work in a dynamic fast-paced mine production environment.
