We have been employee owned since 1966 and trace our origins to the early 1900s. Today, we have more than 900 employees across the U.S and Canada who work with clients in the mining, power, fuels, public, and manufacturing sectors, as well as attorneys, developers, and others with complex challenges.
Why Choose Barr?
If you are looking for an employee-owned company that fosters a collaborative environment, focuses on providing exceptional client service, offers the opportunity to work on challenging projects, and makes employee safety a top priority, Barr is the place for you. In addition to a highly competitive benefits package, we offer mentor and coaching programs to help our employees develop and grow their careers, along with opportunities for volunteering and community involvement.
Summary
This internship will include fieldwork and office-based tasks to support characterization of environmental resources, impact assessments, and project permitting and compliance. Field-based work is anticipated to be fast-paced and may include assisting with wetland delineations, inventories, functional assessments, and other field studies. Office-based work may include performing desktop land use, land cover, and protected species reviews. Training and supervision will be provided. The work may involve short-term, out-of-town assignments in the field or another office. You will be scheduled on an as-needed basis, with anticipated weekly hours varying between 30 to 45 hours per week, based on project tasks and locations.
Minimum Qualifications
NOTE: Applicant must be able to traverse and work in difficult terrain typical of backcountry, roadway, and construction sites, walking up to 10 miles per day in temperatures up to 98 degrees Fahrenheit. Work may also require entering and working within facilities that include limited accessibility, moving machinery, and other conditions typical of mining or other industrial facilities. Safety training will be provided.
