Our Cowal Gold Operation is an open pit mine and ore processing operation, in conjunction with a developing underground. About the role
The Health and Safety Advisor role offers an opportunity to provide leadership, advice, training and practical support for all health and safety aspects in our open-cut, underground and ore processing operation. Key result areas in this role include:
• Lead incident investigations and communicate outcomes using the ICAM Methodology.
• Support in the development, implementation and review of health and safety strategies, systems, plans.
• Facilitate and/or participate in risk assessments at all levels (WRAC, Bowties and operational).
• Ensure health & safety performance data is effectively collected, analysed and reported according to internal procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Lead and conduct workplace internal audits, inspections, and critical risk control verification providing feedback on compliance.
About you
As a Health and Safety Advisor, you will hold relevant tertiary H&S qualification, minimum requirement is a Diploma of Workplace Health & Safety. It is also important that you have/ can demonstrate:
• Demonstrated experience in an operational mining and ore processing environment
• Return to Work Certification is highly regarded
• Cert IV in Training and Assessing is preferred
• INX experience is advantageous
• You will be experienced in interpreting Mining H&S Legislations and developing HSE procedures
• A high level of strategic thinking, planning and problem-solving ability
• You will be experienced in applying the risk management processes
• Highly effective influencing and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the business

Company
The operation comprises the Red Lake, Campbell and Cochenour mines over a strike length of 7km. The Cochenour mine is connected to Red Lake by a 5km haulage drift, with ore processed at the Campbell Mill.
Red Lake is accessible by major highways, with commercial air services to the mine from Thunder Bay and Winnipeg. Red Lake is supported by an experienced and highly-skilled workforce largely residing in adjacent towns of Red Lake and Balmertown and benefits from strong community partnerships with Lac Seul and Wabauskang First Nation Groups.
Mining at Red Lake is undertaken predominantly via long-hole stoping. Processing at the Campbell mill is via conventional crushing and grinding followed by gravity concentration to recover free-milling gold, with refractory gold recovered by floatation followed by pressure oxidation, neutralisation and CIL.
