Job Overview

We are recruiting for a Senior Environmental Health and Safety Manager for our Longview, Texas operations. Komatsu offers an excellent benefit package, competitive pay, bonus potential, annual merit increases, and more.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Support Longview Operations to create a sustainable and significant improvement in EHS results.
  • Provide EHS leadership and support on all aspects of EHS strategic and tactical deployment.
  • Ensure that workplace conditions comply with all applicable federal and state occupational safety and health standards and provisions of any contractual agreement, ensuring that all required records are prepared and maintained.
  • Work as part of a global team of EHS leaders to develop globally standardized programs, policies and procedures, tailored to each regulatory framework within which Komatsu operates.
  • Act as the global champion in area of industrial hygiene, contributing to the development of a global EHS strategy.
  • Provide effective leadership and direction to the EHS teams, increasing the level of capability and results.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with all internal / external stakeholders including regulatory bodies, customers, and industry partners.
  • Oversee all investigations into incidents to ensure root cause is understood, corrective actions in place and all steps taken to ensure there is no repetition.
  • Work closely with the operational leaders to ensure a tactical safety improvement plan that will generate sustainable improvement in EHS results.
  • Coach and influence operational leaders and EHS teams where changes are required in order to achieve desired results.
  • Establishment of a safety culture in the facility which translates into each employee demonstrating a genuine commitment to their own safety and that of each and every colleague.
  • Ensure ISO 4501 compliance


Qualifications/Requirements

Education & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in EHS or related field.
  • Technical training and / or qualifications in Industrial Hygiene.
  • Demonstrated commitment to their own continuing learning and development
  • Successful leadership within an EHS function.
  • Certification as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygiene or related certification would be valued.

Technical Skills & Experience
  • 15 plus years' experience in a manufacturing or other relevant industry dealing with EHS.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deploy strategy which aligns with overall business objectives and priorities.
  • An acute understanding of EHS regulatory standards, interpretations and directives including OSHA, EPA, DOT.
  • Demonstrated experience in creating a safety culture based on leadership, accountability and a systematic approach to continuous improvement of EH&S outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and lead a capable and high performing team of functional experts.
  • Global experience and exposure to different regulatory frameworks and cultures.
  • Ability to effectively manage EHS continuous improvement in work environment.
  • Experience with ISO 4501 a plus
