About the role

We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our West Angelas fixed plant maintenance team. In this key role, you will provide technical mechanical expertise in order to deliver improvements in safety, reliability, maintainability and operability of the West Angelas fixed plant assets.

This role is a great opportunity for an experienced engineering professional to take area ownership in identifying, prioritising and executing sustaining and/or improvement projects for the operations.

Reporting to the Senior Engineer, you will:
  • Provide daily technical engineering support to operations including defect elimination projects, root cause analysis (RCA) and data analysis / interpretation
  • Develop and implement strategies and projects that optimise resources available for fixed plant assets and optimise overall performance of fixed plant assets
  • Develop, facilitate and maintain the integration of repeatable, sustainable and auditable maintenance processes for fixed plant assets in accordance with standards
  • Promote a culture of safety by developing and implementing strategies and projects that improve and update designs in accordance with standards
  • Lead safety and failure investigations and risk assessments

About you

With tertiary qualifications in Mechanical Engineering, you will have demonstrated maintenance/ engineering experience within a fixed plant processing environment. You will have a strong focus towards safety and safe work practices and have a knowledge of reliability-based maintenance philosophies (RCM, FMEA, RCA).

You will be able to collaborate with a diverse range of internal partners at all levels and will have a passion for delivering continuous improvement projects or initiatives. A working knowledge of SAP (or equivalent) computer maintenance management systems will be beneficial, and a manual 'C' class driver's licence will be required.

Where you will be working

Located 110km west of Newman, West Angelas operates on a fly in fly out roster from Perth, Broome and Busselton.

West Angelas is a pioneer in autonomous technologies we were the first site to trial autonomous haul trucks and incorporate autonomous drilling into our operations in 2008, and we continue to have one of the largest mining fleets in the Pilbara. Our high grade, low phosphorous Marra Mamba orebody is an integral part of the Pilbara Blend, contributing both lump and fines products on around four trains each day. At the West Angelas hub there are state-of-the-art power generation and refueling facilities. These facilities supply power and diesel fuel to the East Pilbara mine sites.
