Downer maintains longstanding contracts and significant operational expertise to over a quarter of New Zealanders. We are proud to be working together with the Horowhenua District Council on the 3 Waters Alliance contract which manages the reticulation network, water and wastewater treatment plants, the annual 3 waters renewals programme and the capital projects for the Horowhenua region.

We are looking for an experienced Digger Operator to join our team!

A bit about your role;

Working within a crew on a day to day basis, you will be putting your skills and experience to use in operating a range of excavators, from 1.5 to 30 ton and above. Due to the variety of work we're involved with, during any given day you could be doing any or all of the following: digging, bulk material movement, benching, finishing, trenching, lifting & slinging or helping out with road reinstatement. We need your skills to make the best use of company time and resources, to contribute to the successful completion of contracts.

A bit about you;

You will need to have experience in earthworks, site works, machinery operation and other civil maintenance and construction activities. We would like you to apply if you have:

• Current full drivers Licence with Class 1 and WTR endorsement (classes 2, 4 or 5 an advantage)
• 12 months+ experience of operating an excavator, ideally excavating around underground services
• An ability to work in a team, or on your own
• High level of motivation
• Have evidence of safe work practices
• Have pride in your work, and your machine
