Our Sudbury Operations have been in existence for more than 100 years. With five mines, a mill, a smelter, a refinery and nearly 4,000 employees it is also one of the largest integrated mining complexes in the world. Sudbury is also home to several administrative sites serving both the Ontario Operations as well as all our North Atlantic Operations.

Port Colborne is home to our Nickel Refinery where raw materials from our Sudbury operations are processed into electrocobalt and precious metals and serves as a distribution centre for finished nickel products.

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Supervisor, Production (IOS Scheduler) to join our Coleman Mine in Sudbury.

The job holder will continuously improve the work team performance through effective use of established processes and procedures in achieving assigned objectives. Improve the effectiveness of the front-line team while meeting the business objectives. This includes ensuring the completion of assigned work with consistency and accuracy. This position is located at the Coleman Mine in Sudbury.

Although previous experience in mining or an industrial setting is considered an asset, we also appreciate that diversity of thought comes from our differences – and that’s what makes us great!

Additionally, in this position you will:
  • Update site/area shift schedules during the week of execution
  • Monitor shift schedule compliance and understand deviation causes
  • Recommend Improvements to Area Schedulers/Planners and Integrated Operations Superintendent
  • Seek feedback from Supervisors/crew members to improve process.
  • Hold team accountable for safety, behavior, housekeeping, teamwork, and professionalism
  • Carry out tasks as assigned by the Superintendent or his/her designate to achieve the desired results within an agreed upon timeline and end state
  • Work within budget, guidelines and standards to execute Safety and Production Plans as established by the Superintendent or his/her designate
  • Foster a climate of safety, mutual trust, and respect among all members of his/her team
  • Work collectively with peers and cross functionally with colleagues in engineering, geology, maintenance, and services to achieve the objectives of the mine.

About You
  • Education: The ideal candidate will have a College diploma in Mining or relevant experience. Proof of accreditation on a MTCU transcript in either of the two supervisor modular programs 770121 First Line Underground Mine Supervisor Common Core or 770120 Common Core for First Line Production Supervisor Underground Hard Rock Mining and 770010 Underground Hard Rock Miner Common Core
  • Experience: The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in operations.
