Bald Mountain is an open-pit mine with a large estimated mineral resource base located in White Pine County, Nevada. Its workforce comes from Ely, Eureka, Elko, and Spring Creek area. It is the newest mine in Kinross' portfolio aquired in January 2016. Nevada is one of the best mining jurisdictions in the world, along the southern extension of the prolific Carlin trend. The Bald Mountain Vantage Complex Project has commenced production, and the first gold bar was poured in June 2019.

Job Summary

Under the general supervision of the Mine Operations Superintendent, the incumbent is responsible for the safe, efficient operations of crusher facilities while continuously aligning daily functions to reflect Kinross' values and in compliance with Company policies.

Essential Functions

  • Assign crews and equipment to specific tasks in order to meet daily mine production goals.
  • Supervise crew activities during shifts to ensure safe and efficient accomplishment of assignments.
  • Develop crew skills to levels of maximum efficiency and safety.
  • Meet stated production goals in an innovative and safe manner.
  • Work in cooperation with Maintenance and Mine department being involved in emergency and preventive maintenance activities on equipment and operational coordination to ensure continuity of production process.
  • Compliance with all company policies and procedures including, but not limited to safety, environmental, confidentiality and code of conduct.
  • Meets or exceeds established performance expectations set by management.
  • Consistently exercises discretion and judgment in job performance.
  • Works without risk or harm to self and others.
  • Punctuality and regular attendance required.
  • Helps develop other department personnel to perform duties listed above.
  • Performs other related functions as assigned by supervisor.


  • Qualifications & Skill Requirements

  • It is important that the incumbent foster team spirit among crew members, motivating them to meet production goals.
  • Must show careful attention to planning in order to reduce inefficiencies.
  • Must be able to adapt to constant shift changes.
  • Requires five years' operating experience in the mineral processing industry.
  • At least two years of direct supervisory experience or adequate supervisory training is required.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical concepts, and operation of crushing and Mill process.
  • Possesses good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • General understanding of mining operations, as well as limited understanding of crushing/milling and maintenance operations.
  • Working knowledge and skill with computers and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong verbal, written, analytical and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.
  • Ability to work independently and also as a member of the management team.
  • Demonstrates strong administrative, organizational and technical writing skills.
  • Must be 18 years old and presently authorized to work in the United States on a full time basis.
  • Requires valid driver's license.
