Hatch is currently seeking a lead plannerin the Montreal office. TheLead Planner is responsible for providing comprehensive project planning support through the engineering, procurement, construction and testing/commissioning phases, using standard planning techniques.

Responsibilities:

Establishing, monitoring and updating multiple project plans/schedules by:
  • Developing detailed project schedules using standard coding and work breakdown structures;
  • Understanding project scope and identifying tasks/activities;
  • Sequencing work packages/activities and developing network models;
  • Estimating activities duration;
  • Establishing critical path and total project duration;
  • Preparing project schedule by summarizing the detailed work schedules and monitoring the project's performance against same;
  • Performing schedule control by determining critical path analysis, planned value, earned value, schedule variance, schedule performance indices and schedule risk analysis, and recommending corrective actions when required;
  • Preparing various project reports including project status reports;
  • Updating project schedules to reflect progress against project plan and preparing management reports;
  • Monitoring schedule compliance and reporting to the project team regarding deviation from approved project baseline;
  • Reporting schedule variances and recommending corrective action;
  • Other related duties as required


Knowledge & Skills:

  • Depth understanding of the EPCM industry and practices;
  • Comprehensive knowledge of practices and procedures involved in the planning function, with a minimum of 15 years proven experience in the execution of complex projects;
  • Hands on experience in planning and preparing logic diagrams, critical path networks and bar charts, with particular emphasis on detailed construction schedules;
  • Ability to receive information from numerous sources, and have excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • In depth experience with computer based scheduling systems (Primavera P6, Microsoft Project) and other computerized applications related to the work is essential;
  • Fully familiar with resource allocation and levelling techniques as well as earned value analysis;
  • Must possess sound judgement; strong analytical and interpersonal skills, well developed organizational and administration skills, verbal and written communication skills;
  • Tact and diplomacy required when providing assistance and support regarding the preparation and analysis of project schedules;
  • Ability to coordinate the efforts of others to accomplish objectives;
  • Ability to develop, coach and mentor a team of intermediate and junior planners
