Survey Technician

Musselwhite Mine

Purpose

Musselwhite Mine is currently seeking an energetic Survey Technician to join our dedicated Engineering team. Reporting directly to the Senior Engineer, the successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking all aspects of survey for the Engineering team, and will have a high focus on safety and environmental protection in all areas of the job.

Responsibilities

  • Mark-up and grade control of active headings
  • Creates and maintains as-built survey data in a 3D CAD package
  • Generates driving prints for development headings
  • Mark-up of production drill designs
  • Conducts cavity monitoring surveys (CMS) of excavations
  • Surface and underground downhole surveys with Maxi-bore and Gyro survey tools
  • Use of electronic total station instruments and data collectors
  • Surface surveying with differential GPS systems
  • Prepares month-end and survey reports


Requirements

  • Preferred candidate will have a diploma in surveying or relevant diploma
  • Relevant survey experience and a working knowledge of underground mining environment
  • Computer skills with Microsoft Office required
  • Knowledge of Acquire software an asset
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, able to work independently
  • Ability to frequently lift, carry and push 35 kg
  • Ability to frequently reach below and at-shoulder level
  • Underground experience an asset
  • Strong commitment to working in a safe, socially responsible manner
  • Experience working in a culturally diverse environment an asset
  • Ability to work with and share information with team members and other reliant departments


Working Conditions

The schedule for this position is 14 days on and 14 days, working 12-hour shifts.
