Health, Safety & Environmental Supervisor

Job Summary

Leads and manages continuous improvement in safety, health and environment at the Mine. Develops and facilitates the implementation and administration of the mine safety best practices and processes across the mine site and ensures compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

Displays an unwavering focus on safety and environmental stewardship Participates as a member of the Company Leadership Team to develop strategic organizational initiatives for the improvement of site-wide safety objectives Promote safety and environmental leadership by always setting the example, inspiring our safety vision, challenging the processes, empowering the workforce's safety consciousness and celebrating our successes Lead the development and implementation of a sustainable safety system to manage risk and minimize the likelihood and impact of incidents Maintain a system to track safety, and health performance and variance data, discern and analyze trends by tracking performance drivers and select appropriate action planning for meaningful enhancement of safety performance Coordinate the planning and administration of appropriate projects and safety & health training programs Conduct comprehensive assessments of safety plans, programs and work activities to identify improvement opportunities including risk assessments Provide support to management's investigation of injuries and incidents as well as providing training on analytical techniques to determine root causes and recommended corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence Monitor and report on completion of corrective actions resulting from investigations, inspections, risk analyses and audits Assists in monitoring site contractors on compliance with company and contractual safety and health requirements. Responsible for annual refresher training planning development and delivery Complete regular safety inspections of the workplace May perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

Professional mine safety/health certifications are a strong plus: CMSP, CSP Minimum of 5 years' experience in industrial hygiene, emergency response, contractor management and MSHA regulations Documented relevant experience in developing and administering programs to prevent losses involving people, equipment, material and the environment Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills in the areas of caching and mentoring. Decisive with the ability to influence direction with regard to the safety and health programs and policies Self-starter with excellent team building and motivational skills Ability to prioritize and re-arrange schedule to meet immediate/unplanned requirements Organized with a strong attention to detail ensuring deadlines are met Valid Driver's License

Work Conditions

•Ability to work outside in all weather extremes

•Personal protective equipment is required when performing this work (safety shoes, hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, respirator, etc as needed)
