Job Details
Description
Responsibilities:
•Lead and develop operations teams and processes
•Make timely and effective decisions regarding milling and processing to ensure quality products are produced.
•Delegate and direct mill supervisors in the performance of their duties and communicate production information to the general mill manager and crews to enhance performance.
•Manage and maintain mill operating budget and expenditures.
•Plan and organize improvement projects by setting priorities and managing outcomes.
•Plan & forecast for future mill operations by making recommendations regarding staff, schedules, budget and equipment.
•Build and Maintain strategic partnerships and business relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
•Engage in daily interaction with maintenance department to identify and prioritize needed repairs.
•Ensure accuracy and timeliness of required documentation, including morning report information, truck reports, month-end inventories, reagent usage and inventory, task training, DOT training, safety, and first aid training.
Education & Experience:
•Proven experience effectively troubleshooting problems and proactively presenting feasible solutions
•Proven experience building & maintaining strategic partnerships & business relationships with key stakeholders
•8-10 years of experience as a metallurgist or metallurgical technician
•At least 5 years experience directly supervising, developing & mentoring direct reports
•Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering or Metallurgical or related field
•MSHA Trainer certification
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
•Strong computer skills using Microsoft Office Suite, Adaptive, I-Series, PeopleSoft, & Ultimate
•Knowledge of environmental regulations
•Ability to read, understand & analyze metallurgical data
•Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing concepts & principals
•Ability to use discretion & accept accountability when making decisions
•Strong teamwork & collaboration skills
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
•Occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions and hot (non-weather) conditions. Occasionally required to work near moving mechanical parts. May be exposed to loud noise levels.
•Regularly required to sit for extended periods of time, talk and hear; occasionally required to use repetitive motion and reach with hands/arms. Requires clarity of vision and three-dimensional vision.
