Responsibilities:

  • Management, execution, and supervision of:
  • Monitoring well water level measurement and data capture (manual or with transducers and telemetry network),
  • Dewatering and piezometer drilling and design,
  • Sitewide monitoring plan and reporting to stakeholders,
  • Tracking of sitewide well database and well status,
  • Dewatering data management in various database systems, and
  • Monthly water reporting including flow rates, water management, and dewatering accounting reports.
  • Provide hydrogeological expertise and guidance to Mine Operations and engineering.
  • Develop an understanding of the risks within the day-to-day operations and work to manage them.
  • Assist with engineering and construction projects for site water management such as construction of new ponds, pipelines, etc.
  • Engage in growth meetings and develop future dewatering strategies and pilot drilling programs.
  • Maintain awareness of site water rights and permitting requirements. Convey any changes to water management system to water resource managers/corporate social responsibility representatives in a timely fashion.
  • Conduct/lead hydrogeologic investigations such as aquifer tests, spinner logs, infiltration studies, etc., collect and analyze data and prepare reports and documents.
  • Assist with water management strategies and data management.
  • Maintain site water balance.
  • Mentor and manage other hydrogeology staff.
  • Comply with state and federal health and safety regulations and all company policies and procedures.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in hydrology, hydrogeology, geology, engineering, or related field is required.
  • Minimum of five to ten years of verifiable experience in hydrology, hydrogeology, engineering, and/or dewatering required.
  • Experience with dewatering systems, hydrologic and hydrogeologic principles, and hydrologic modeling preferred.
  • Direct experience with well drilling, preferably with deep, large diameter, large volume production/dewatering wells preferred.
  • Underground mine operation and passive drainage experience preferred
  • Management skills for high budget projects (>$1M).
  • High level of computer skills for data management and reporting (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, various database systems).
  • Experience with Vulcan, mine-site, Deswick, leapfrog or other hydrogeology / mining software preferred
  • Experience with water rights and regulatory compliance issues in the state of Nevada preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work with other departments, contractors, stakeholders, and regulators.
  • Ability to think of creative and innovative solutions to water management issues while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.

About Nevada Gold Mines

Nevada Gold Mines is a joint venture between Barrick Gold Corporation (61.5%) and Newmont Goldcorp Corporation (38.5%), combining their significant assets across Nevada to create the single largest gold-producing complex in the world and realize the full potential of these mines through synergies and best-in-class operational improvements.

The massive mining operation comprises 8 mines along with their associated infrastructure and processing facilities that produced an estimated 4 million ounces of gold in 2018.
