ABOUT OUR OPERATION:

Over the next five years, Agnico Eagle will hire over 600 people across our Nunavut mining operations. We currently operate the Meadowbank mine near Baker Lake which represents the roots of Agnico Eagle in Nunavut and is our largest producer. We have been operating Meadowbank for over eight years, and it is now transitioning to process a new satellite deposit, called Whale Tail, by late 2019.

YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:

Reporting to the IT Coordinator, the IT Technician is part of the Information Technology Department and collaborates with other departments of the mine. He/she will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle's culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.
  • Respond to requests for technical IT/OT assistance in person, via phone, and electronically;
  • Diagnose and resolve technical hardware and software issues;
  • Research questions using available information resources;
  • Advise user on appropriate action;
  • Follow standard help desk procedures;
  • Log interactions and administer help desk software;
  • Identify and escalate situations to IT/OT Analysts if technically complex or if it requires urgent attention;
  • Maintain the IT/OT inventory by ordering and receiving the materials;
  • Maintain the division's printers fleet;
  • Create and maintain user accounts;
  • Program VHF/UHF radios;
  • Configure Cisco IP phones and voice mailboxes;
  • Configure switch port / vlan over Cisco and HP Switches;
  • Help the Telecommunication Specialist in Fiber Optics and Rj45 termination;
  • Act as a technical advisor for Social Events (Bingo, Christmas, etc);
  • Configure WiFi aps;
  • Deploy, updates, maintain and configure computer fleets (IT/OT).


WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

  • College degree in Information Technology;
  • 5 to 7 years of experience in IT Customer Support;
  • Mastering of MS Windows and MS Office Suites;
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory and Microsoft SCCM;
  • Excellent knowledge of Xerox and HP printers;
  • Strong knowledge of radio communications and pagers;
  • Strong knowledge of networking and VLAN configuration;
  • Strong knowledge of PC hardware and software;
  • Strong knowledge of FM radio broadcasting, CATV distribution and satellite communication;
  • Strong organizational skills, self-governing and ability to work under pressure;
  • C2, ERP System (J.D. Edwards), amateur radio certification and knowledge in audio/video installation are considered valuable assets;
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team;
  • Strong ability to effectively communicate in English (Oral and written). Selected candidates must attain a passing mark on the SPEEXX English language assessment.


Your Work Schedule

Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest; flights departing from all communities in the Kivalliq region, Mirabel or Val-d'Or, Quebec.
