Position

Corporate Social Responsibility Manager, Vancouver

Introduction

The CSR Manager will fulfill the mandate of social responsibility for B2Gold. Working closely with senior management at all sites and with field teams, the CSR Manager will mobilize the organization and collaborate in the development of CSR strategies for the Company.

Main duties will be to direct and manage the social and community issues related to B2Gold global projects and operations and to provide reporting to corporate management, as required. The CSR Manager will be a self-directed professional who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where there is frequent change. International and domestic travel will be required.

Location and Reporting Structure

Based in the Vancouver Corporate office, this position reports directly to the Director, Sustainability.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Fulfill the corporate CSR mandate of: i) social risk management; ii) capability development; iii) human rights due diligence and iv) community investment;
  • Provide direction to our sites on the implementation of our Social Responsibility and Human Rights policy, social performance standards, human rights due diligence and community investment strategy;
  • Define or contribute to CSR strategies at sites related to social issues such as: stakeholder engagement, grievance and conflict management, community investment, artisanal mining, resettlement and land acquisition, human rights, local employment, and sustainability;
  • Identify, analyze, and manage business risks related to social impacts;
  • Manage data and information and monitor social performance metrics and indicators;
  • Provide monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to Corporate management, as required;
  • Maintain communication with all sites assigned to your responsibility with respect to CSR activities, including community relations teams, mine managers, and country managers;
  • Travel to all current and future operations and projects of B2Gold, as required;
  • Supervise and at times, execute training and capacity building for CSR skills and strategy;
  • Provide guidance for CSR budgets;
  • Participate in due diligence and assessment of socio-economic settings, risks, and issues related to acquisitions and mergers, as required;
  • Maintain current on industry best practice and international performance standards related to social issues; and
  • Perform other duties as required in support of Company objectives.

Requirements

  • Degree in International Development, Social Sciences, or a relevant discipline, preferred;
  • At least 8 years of relevant experience, with 3 years at role level;
  • International working experience, required;
  • Experience in the mining industry or extractive sector, preferred;
  • Experience in managing teams directly and virtually, required;
  • Strong knowledge, expertise, and understanding of the application and implementation of IFC Performance Standards, required;
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively scale and apply strategies to local environments and different cultures;
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities with all levels of internal and external stakeholders;
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision, manage multi-tasking and multiple demands;
  • Knowledge and experience working with Microsoft software (Word, Outlook, Excel, Project);
  • Strong English written, verbal and presentation skills, required; and
  • Fluency in Spanish and French considered an asset.
