About the role:

Downer holds a long-term Asset Management and Facilities Management contract with the Department of Corrections and the Ministry of Justice. This involves the proactive management and delivery to the national portfolio of facilities including 16 prisons, 100 courts and 157 community correctional sites. This contract underpins the provision of availability of facilities to support core Government services.

Our Senior Technicians are key to the successful delivery of maintenance services to the Prison sites that we manage. Reporting to the Site Manager, this is a role that requires a hands-on practical approach and provides an opportunity for an ambitious and resilient individual to lead a team to deliver services within KPI and to provide quality, value for money work.

About you:

On a daily basis, you will be leading, managing and supporting the undertaking of scheduled maintenance services, first response and reactive jobs in order to mitigate disruption to the customer's activities, all the while ensuring safe working practices are implemented and corrective actions are taken where required.

If you believe you have the following attributes, we would love to hear from you:
  • Must have a current trade qualification and minimum 3 years' experience within the facilities management industry;
  • Proven people leadership experience with a high level of emotional intelligence and a demonstrated ability to get the best out of a team;
  • Strong customer centric approach;
  • Experienced at effective resource planning and scheduling;
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple demands;
  • Ability to identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives;
  • Computer literate, including MS Outlook and MS Excel;
  • Working knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015;
  • Must hold a current full driver's licence.
