The Role: Senior AHS and Projects Engineer, Technical Services (Maules Creek, NSW)
The Senior AHS and Project Engineer is a key role at Maules Creek Coal Mine and is accountable for providing engineering support enabling the site to provide an increasingly safe, reliable and cost efficient operation and effectively plan, coordinate and continuously improve the mining plan layout to maximise resource utilization through effective and efficient mining methods.

The Role: Senior AHS and Projects Engineer, Technical Services (Maules Creek, NSW)
The Senior AHS and Project Engineer is a key role at Maules Creek Coal Mine and is accountable for providing engineering support enabling the site to provide an increasingly safe, reliable and cost efficient operation and effectively plan, coordinate and continuously improve the mining plan layout to maximise resource utilization through effective and efficient mining methods.
To be successful in the role you will:
- Actively manage the preparation of the Weekly and Monthly Plan with consideration given to risk (safety, business, operational) and profitability.
- Ensure production Monthly plan is met through effective planning, scheduling and coordination of activities relating to hauling fleets utilising Autonomous Haulage Systems (AHS)
- Supervise mining engineers, ensuring their outputs adhere to business goals.
- Ensure that all excavation & dump designs conform to Maules Creek Coal's Health and Safety Management System.
- Ensure Dump Rehabilitation designs and Topsoil handling conform to Maules Creek's protocols
- Liaise with supervisors, superintendents and other engineers in the planning process well before plans are due to complete plans on time.
- Identify areas for technical and business improvement that have the potential to increase productivity and/or reduce mining costs.
- Complete dig / dump design work required for 6 week plans for fleets interacting with Autonomous Haulage Systems (AHS)
- Manage 6 week mine planning process for all fleets interacting with Autonomous Haulage Systems (AHS).
- Ensure waste dumps consider rehabilitation requirements during the design stage, ensuring effective controls are in place.
- Provide effective technical support, assistance and advice to the Production, Mine Systems and Control, Technical Services and Mine Services departments as required.
The successful applicant will possess the following qualifications, experience and qualities:
- Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering or similar
- 5 years' experience in open cut coal mine engineering
- Multi-seam coal open cut experience (Desirable)
- Experience in Hitachi Autonomous truck technology (Desirable)
- Experience in development short-term mining schedules
- Geotechnical experience (Desirable)
- Experience in Microsoft Excel spreadsheets/databases
- Experience using mine planning & scheduling software (Vulcan, Gantt Scheduler, Spry)
- RIIRIS301A - Apply Risk Management Processes (or equivalent)(desirable)
- RIIOHS301A - Conduct Health and Safety Investigations (or equivalent)(desirable)
