About the role

We are looking for a Manager - Capital Planning and Reporting to lead a dynamic team accountable for the capture, analysis, planning and presentation of study and project data across the global Rio Tinto Projects capital projects portfolio.

This role is a great opportunity for a senior leader to maintain oversight of a reporting function which provides accurate and transparent information to our executive management and product groups to enable them to make key business decisions.

Reporting to the General Manager - Project Practices & Improvement and working in a collaborative and exciting environment within Rio Tinto Projects, you will lead a team responsible for:
  • Review and consolidation of project reports, understanding the impacts of cost, schedule and risk
  • Extracting data provided by project flash reports, interpreting and providing consolidated monthly reporting.
  • Producing professional, accurate and timely reporting of cash flow and monthly progress reporting to senior stakeholders
  • Development of various executive level papers and presentations
  • Managing the quarterly capital forecasting process, collating capital forecasts from all projects and ensuring that the Rio Tinto Projects submissions reconcile to Product group submissions and controllers
  • Preparing the 5 year strategic business plan, 5 year capital plan and annual plan submissions
  • Preparing executive and project level dashboards for financial, organisational, project/study and compliance performance
  • Ensuring accuracy and maintenance of the project analytics database

What you will bring
  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • Bachelor degree in relevant field
  • Experience in Management reporting
  • Business analytics, excellent written and verbal communication
  • Ability to effectively work with multiple stakeholders, in multiple regions / time zones
  • Excellent collaboration, facilitation and influencing abilities
  • Previous experience in planning and forecasting

It will also be beneficial if you have:
  • Accounting qualifications
  • Project management or project controls experience
