POSITION OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Superintendent - Mine Operations, the Mine Operations Supervisor is responsible for assigning work and supervising production crews. As this is a start-up position, the successful candidate will ensure production objectives for ore and waste are realized in a safe and cost-effective manner.

MAGINO MINE
The Magino Project is a brown-fields site located in northern Ontario, Canada that contains an historical underground gold mine, landfill and tailings management facility ("TMF"). The Corporation conducted a Feasibility Study during 2017 that examined mining the deposit using conventional open pit mining methods and extraction of gold from the ore using a 10,000 tonnes per day carbon-in-pulp ("CIP") mineral processing facility. When developed, Magino will produce around 150,000 ounces of gold per year during the first five years of production. The project has over a 15-year mine production life (including one year of pre-production).

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Promote a workplace environment which supports safe and efficient behavior on the job and an awareness of and compliance with environmental, safety, engineering, and Mine Act requirements.
  • Schedule operators and equipment to achieve production targets for tonnes, grade, stripping, equipment utilization in a safe, environmentally sound, and cost-effective fashion, all in accordance with good mining practice.
  • Measure the performance of his/her crew in achieving key operating targets such as safety, attendance, productivity, quality control, environmental compliance, and cost control improving the effectiveness of the crew by communicating the results to his/her crew and his supervisor.
  • To ensure that the operators on the shift are trained to meet all the requirements safely and productively.
  • Keep records of all aspects of production achieved on their shift per the daily shift log, as well as special reports as required.
  • Control movement of machinery within the pit through the dispatch system.
  • Participate in the detailed planning and setup for the next shift.
  • Measure the performance of their crew in achieving key targets in safety and ensure that all employees know, understand and comply with all safety rules and policies and be held accountable for the safety performance and statistics generated through his/her efforts.
  • Work under the direction of the Mine Operations Superintendent to maintain the pit dewatering system.


QUALIFICATIONS
  • Tertiary qualification in mine engineering desirable but not required.
  • Possess a valid shift boss certificate.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in open pit mining.
  • Strong interpersonal and management skills.
  • Detail-oriented, adaptable, energetic.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license with clean abstract


ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The role is located at the Magino Mine, which is approximately 88 kilometers northeast of Wawa, Ontario, Canada.
The ideal candidate for the role will work a rotation of 4 days on and 3 days off, ten hour days.
