Description

Oversees all policies and procedures governing the credit and collection activities of assigned accounts and reporting requirements. Leads appropriate customer service to designated external and internal customers.

  • Direct responsibility for certain business segment credit reviews; supervisory role for other business segment credit reviews
  • Assists with handling credit relationships for assigned customers (domestic and international)
    • Collaborates with appropriate staff and the Sales group for the processing of credit applications on new customers including application review, credit investigation, and analysis of customer financial strength that requires making credit decisions with authority to approve credit limits of up to $3 million
    • Maintains vigilance in monitoring corporate exposure under existing customer credit lines and ensure that credit limits continue to be appropriate
    • Collaborates with and support Credit staff both in the U.S. and overseas
    • Conducts ongoing communication with both internal and external customers on credit status and related credit functions
    • Handles Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) filings on all customers under consignment agreements, reviewing contracts related to sales and credit extension to international customers using various credit tools
  • Assists with SOX Compliance for Credit Team
  • Leads monthly Credit Committee Meetings with senior management for Copper, Moly and Cobalt business segments
  • Coordinates Credit Analysts' collection efforts for business segments
  • Assists FCX Assistant Treasurer in working with internal auditors
  • Mentors other Credit Analysts within the Treasury Credit Team and assumes leading or assisting role with certain projects assigned to the Treasury Credit Team
  • Prepares various reporting relating to: credit and collection, bad debts and related performance information on a weekly and/or monthly basis
    • Provides assistance and oversight for cash forecasts
  • Collaborates with IT to develop and maintain the FCSM credit module on SAP
    • Coordinates Credit staff SAP issues and works with IT to solve problems and foster enhancements to the system
  • Conducts periodic customer visits
  • Provides guidance to Credit Analysts for the establishment of credit lines
  • Participates in credit related industry meetings
  • Oversees the approval and ongoing review of Company vendor and contractors in excess of amounts stipulated in credit policy (currently $10 million)
    • Collaborates with Global Sourcing to gather required information, attend update meetings and create an approval package for management review and signature
  • Performs other duties as requested


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or closely related field; and five (5) years of progressive experience in a Commercial Credit and Collection function


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with SAP

  • Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English
  • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
  • Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment
  • Position is in busy, non-smoking office located in downtown Phoenix, AZ
  • Location requires mobility in an office environment; each floor is accessible by elevator
  • Occasionally work will be performed in a mine, outdoor or manufacturing plant setting
  • Must be able to frequently sit, stand and walk
  • Must be able to frequently lift and carry up to ten (10) pounds
  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required
  • Freeport-McMoRan promotes a drug/alcohol-free work environment through the use of mandatory pre-employment drug testing and on-going random drug testing as allowed by applicable State laws
