Intermediate Hydrogeologist (Groundwater Modeler) - Denver, CO, U.S.A

SRK Consulting is an independent, international consulting practice, providing globally integrated consulting services to the international mining and metals sector.

We are seeking a Intermediate Hydrogeologist (Groundwater Modeler).

Description of Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will have experience constructing numerical hydrological models, working on due diligence and independent reporting projects, and providing leadership and advice to clients, including written reports and presentations. The candidate will also advise on mine dewatering in underground and open pit mines, water supply, pit-lake infilling, and hydrologic impacts of mining. This position often uses groundwater modeling codes, such as FEFLOW, MINEDW, and MODFLOW

Essential Requirements:

• An undergraduate degree from an accredited university in Hydrogeology, Geology, Geological Engineering, or a related field of study
• At least 5 years of related experience modeling groundwater systems in the mining or natural resources industry
• Experience in and knowledge of finite difference and finite element methods
• Experience with construction and calibration of numerical groundwater flow models
• Strong working knowledge of MODFLOW, FEFLOW, GIS, PEST, and other supporting software
• Ability to analyze large datasets with Microsoft Excel, Power BI, or similar
• Availability to visit sites and work in the field in remote locations around the
• Desire to work in a non-hierarchical consultancy environment on a wide variety of projects
• Strong interpersonal communication skills
• Excellent time-management and organizational skills
• Ability to work in a team environment while taking initiative and leading by example
• Ability to establish and maintain client relationships

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

• Experience with one or more desktop programming languages (VBA and/or )
• Previous experience in mining to determine data limitations
• Experience with unsaturated flow modeling and mine dewatering experience
