ABOUT OUR OPERATION:

Agnico Eagle is always looking for new talented team members to join our Nunavut mining operations. Meliadine is located just northwest of Rankin Inlet, a small coastal town on the shores of Hudson Bay. Commercial production began at Meliadine in mid-May 2019 and the mine officially opened at the end of June. This mine is our largest gold deposit in terms of mineral resources and we expect to operate it for at least 14 years. The site features a power plant and processing facilities, as well as a complete camp complex.

YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:

Reporting to the Senior Metallurgist, the Production Metallurgist is part of the Process Plant Department and collaborates with other departments of the mine. The incumbent ensures the proper performance of all circuits of the process plant and plays an important role in maintaining the stability of the production. He/she will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved, while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle's culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct, and the environment.
  • Ensure all activities are conducted in a safe and environmentally responsible way;
  • Coordinate activities of the metallurgical team (including the refinery) to achieve departmental objectives sustainably;
  • Monitor sampling results and ensure sampling plan, practices, mass balance, daily production reports and inventory are accurate;
  • Review and approve the procedures' content and ensure that procedures are followed by employees;
  • Review key performance indicators (KPI's), deciding on corrective measures to be taken and communicate these to the team, as well as monitor the results;
  • Improve automated plant control systems;
  • Promote continuous optimization of the process by proactively identifying potential areas of improvement, leading improvement initiatives in the plant, and keeping the control plans up to date;
  • Ensure proper transfer of information with the cross-shift.


WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

  • University degree in Metallurgical/Mineral Processing Engineering or related discipline;
  • 7-8 years of experience in mining process plant operations;
  • Advance Process Control (APC) systems experience;
  • Sound technical and analytical skills with the ability to make good practical judgments;
  • Cultural awareness and understanding of work in the Canadian Arctic is an asset;
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team;
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office software especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint;
  • Strong ability to effectively communicate in English (Oral and written). Selected candidates must attain a passing mark on a Speexx English language assessment.

Your Work Schedule:
  • Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest; flights departing from all communities in the Kivalliq region, Mirabel or Val-d'Or, Quebec.
