About this role

Global Network Infrastructure and Services thrives to provide Newmont customers and many Communities we serve, with the best possible means of connectivity and communications. We are leading the industry by pioneering innovative technologies like Private LTE/5G, SpaceX/Starlink Internet, SD-WAN, and many others. We also heavily automated Network deployments and management using Red Hat Ansible Tower and Python.

Your role will consist of

As an intern, you will be responsible for implementing specific Network Infrastructure and Services elements of the projects, as well as supporting the day-to-day activities of your department. The exact projects will be established according to your availability, interest, skills, and experience, in addition to the specific business needs.

Possible Responsibilities include :

  • Active participation in Network upgrade projects
  • Identifying recurring incidents within a customer's environment and determining the need to escalate to the appropriate technical resources, ensuring resolution of more complex issues
  • Desire to stay current on technology trends and Information Technology concepts
  • Collaborating with customers and teammates to determine improvement areas for capabilities and processes
  • Engaging customers in a professional manner, resolving requests and incidents with a high sense of urgency and ownership
  • Being a team player focused on collective improvement and growth

Your training, skills, and experience checklist

  • Undergraduate/Graduate/Doctoral students preferred, graduating in December 2021 or later - Preferred degrees are Bachelor's or Master's of Science in Computer Engineering, Electronics, DSP, Wireless and Data Communications. We will consider other similar disciplines.
  • Working experience within a technology environment
  • Knowledge of Automation platforms and programing languages such as Red Hat Ansible and Python is highly desired
  • Cisco Network +, Security + and / or CCNA is highly desired, understanding of basic Networking concepts is a must.
  • Use of command line tools such as CMD, Telnet, SSH, GIT, and Python is a plus
  • Experience applying troubleshooting techniques across various server, application, and network technologies.
  • Positive attitude with a strong sense of urgency and ownership of quality work deliverables
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; comfort engaging with senior leaders and global teams
  • At least a 3.0 GPA or equivalent
  • Valid work authorization to work in the United States for this position.

Working conditions and location

Summer intern positions begin in May 2021 and conclude in August 2021. The exact dates are flexible depending on each student's availability and our business need. Our internships are full-time paid positions (40 hours/week).

This internship is based at our corporate headquarters in Denver, CO. It is possible some travel may be required to one or more of Newmont's sites. There is ample opportunity for internal networking within our company.

T he hourly rate offered for this overtime-eligible role is $ 20 (Freshman) - $36 (PhD). The hourly rate is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado. The hourly rate offer will not be based on a candidate's wage rate history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about wage rate history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont. This role is not eligible for benefits except for as applicable by law.
