About The Role

Schedule: Full time, Fixed Term (13-month Contract)

Position Reports To: Director, Sustainability

Position Overview

Reporting to the Director, Sustainability, the Sustainability Coordinator will actively be involved with developing the frameworks and systems for the company operations to support and develop the Corporate and site Sustainability (Community and Environment) programs. The Sustainability Coordinator is an energetic self-starter, enthusiastic to learn with the demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively with teams at sites to continuously improve Corporate Sustainability performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the planning and implementation of programs to improve economic, social and or environmental quality of life in the community (community involvement, environmental clean-up)
  • Implement and monitor performance metrics to demonstrate achievement of Corporate responsibility objectives
  • Build and maintain relationships with local business groups and community representatives
  • Support local sites to design appropriate Indigenous programs, including consultation plans and local engagement
  • Coordinate community outreach to promote a positive organizational image in a community-oriented way (i.e. internal events, fairs, community events)
  • Work with business leadership on approaches for addressing complex/sensitive community issues, targeting locations for initiatives, etc.
  • Provide input into the development of Corporate, regional and site procedures/practices
  • Oversee and support sites on actions to improve conformance to Corporate environmental and social standards (audit findings, risk assessments)
  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices and make recommendations for continuous improvement
  • Manage the review and development of Corporate Sustainability policies
  • Contribute to Sustainability communications, as required
  • Document and improve sustainability reporting processes, as required
  • Identify and implement opportunities to increase the efficiency of data collection processes and reporting tools
  • Perform other duties as required in support of Company strategic objectives


Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field such as Sustainability, Corporate Social Responsibility, Environmental Sciences, or related
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working in a CSR and or Environmental role, preferably in the mining or natural resources sector

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills as appropriate for the needs of varied audiences
  • Show initiative and able to perform under a high-pressure environment
  • Able to build and maintain positive working relationships with key stakeholders and government
  • Ability to clearly communicate complex situations and opinions to senior management
